Rev. Jermaine Evans

In 1997 he married his college sweetheart, Ms. Alicia J. Spight of Indianapolis, IN. He calls her the hot chocolate on his ice cream because she makes his life sweeter. There are three children from this union: Alicia, Joshua and James.
Dr. Evans has dual doctoral degrees in theology and Christian Counseling. Pastor Evans was licensed to preach the gospel at Salem and served as an Associate Minister of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Snellville, GA for 9 years. Once ordained he pastored Son Rise Church for three and a half years. He has a passion for helping others both physically and spiritually. He has ministered in the church choirs, served as youth and children’s pastor, directed men’s ministry, participated in Angel food ministry and so much more. He regularly counsels others in the life and God walks and gives regularly to the homeless and less fortunate. He speaks often on Real Men being Men radio show on dirtykneesministries.com which is just one other way that he reaches others for Christ. His prayer is that God continues to use him as a vessel to empower all that he encounters.
Alicia Evans was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Lillie and Alex Spight. The family moved to Georgia when she was only eight and she has lived there since. She was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ at an early age. She actively participated in church activities including hildren/youth department, Sunday school, and choir. Salem is considered her home church because her family joined here once the family moved to Gwinnett County.
She received a B.S. ED in Middle Grades Education and began her teaching career. She has many years of experience which includes public, charter, and private school experiences ranging from grades four to twelve. She has taught math, language arts, social studies, and Bible. She obtained a M. ED in School Counseling in May of 2013 from Liberty University and completed coursework for a Masters of Religious Education.
Her experience with youth ministry began in 2000 where she began work as a youth advisor. This provided joy in her life because she was able to not only teach children academically but also influence them with the fear and admonition of the Lord. She continued working in this capacity until called to lead in other areas. She has worked as a Sunday school and Vacation Bible School teacher for ages from pre-school to adult. She also was the coordinator of Young Women of Virtue which focused in empowering young girls to live their lives virtuously. Currently she is training in ministry. Her desire is that God will continue to use her to reach people of all ages and encourage them to form a relationship with Christ or to continue to trust in the Lord. Their Favorite Scripture: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
